Seven Before Seven Challenge

At Queensbury Academy, we believe literacy is the key to success, in school and in life. That’s why we’re encouraging all our incoming Year 7 students to dive into seven fantastic books this summer, before joining us in September:

The Challenge

• Bronze - Read 1-2 of these books and produce a creative response for 1 of the books.
• Silver - Read 3-4 of these books and produce a creative response for 1 of the books.
• Gold - Read 5+ of these books and produce a creative response for 1 of the books.
• (The creative response could be a piece of artwork or written reflection)

We’re proud to have a wonderful library at Queensbury, and an absolutely brilliant librarian who’s always full of recommendations. Whether you're a confident reader or just getting started, she’ll help you find a book you love.

Year 7 Celebrate at Their Welcome Disco | September 26

Our new Year 7 pupils recently came together for a welcome disco, giving them the chance to relax, socialise and spend time with their classmates during their first few weeks at Queensbury Academy.

With music, dancing, hot dogs, popcorn and plenty of sweets, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We were delighted to see pupils having so much fun and getting to know one another outside the classroom.

It was a brilliant way to mark the start of their time at Queensbury and help them feel part of our school community.
