Preparing for a Successful Start to the New Term

Important Announcement - Jul 2026

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to Queensbury Academy and helping them settle into the new school year.

During the first week, students will take part in a series of sessions designed to help them re-establish routines, understand our expectations, and get off to the best possible start. These activities will support them in feeling confident, organised, and ready to learn.

To help your child have a successful start, please ensure they arrive each day wearing the correct school uniform and with a fully stocked pencil case (please refer to our uniform and equipment lists). Having the right equipment and uniform from day one helps students focus on their learning and avoids unnecessary disruption to their day.

Our uniform policy will be in place from the start of term. If your child arrives without the correct uniform, we may contact you to ask for your support in providing the missing item before they begin lessons. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain high standards across the school.

  • Wednesday 2 September (Year 7 only)
  • Thursday 3 September (Years 7–13)

Thursday 3 September

During tutor time and Lessons 1–3, students will take part in the following sessions:

  • Preparing for Success – timetables, Scholar Guides, and a welcome back.
  • Success in Learning – making the most of lessons and independent learning.
  • Success Beyond the Classroom – expectations and opportunities outside lessons.
  • Success Assembly – all students will attend a welcome assembly.

Lessons 4 and 5 will follow the normal timetable.

Friday 4 September

In their final lesson of the day, students will meet with their tutors to reflect on their first two days back. They will also have the opportunity to volunteer as Form Representatives for the School Council and set personal targets to help them achieve a successful start to the term.

Many thanks

Mrs Briggs
